Illustration of a Goomba
In an article on Large Prime Numbers, Tim reviewed a then-new
Mario baseball game for the Gamecube. In it, he talked about how when the
Goomba bats, it swings the bat not by holding it in its hands but rather through
psychokinesis; the bat levitates around him and somehow swings and hits the ball.
I emailed Tim and told him that if I worked on the team that developed this game,
I'd solve this problem by making the Goomba hold the bat in its mouth.
Tim liked this idea and told me to draw it to include in his article.
He also requested that the Goomba wear a baseball cap and make the striking
sound effect be "ZUGYUUN!", which is apparently the onomaepeia for a gunshot.
